SOMS Technologies Says New Oil Filter Allows for 30,000 Miles Without an Oil Change

The patented microGreen oil filter has two filters in one standard spin on canister, designed to ensure that the oil stays cleaner, longer.

VALHALLA, N.Y. —  SOMS Technologies LLC, a provider of engine oil filtration products, has introduced the new microGreen Extended Performance Oil Filter, which the company says enables vehicles to operate for up to 30,000 miles without an oil change.

The patented microGreen oil filter has two filters in one standard spin on canister, designed to ensure that the oil stays cleaner, longer. According to SOMS, microGreen technology reduces the use of oil by 70 percent and oil filters by 50 percent, saving money while significantly decreasing the potential for improper disposal of these hazardous wastes.

While traditional oil filters capture larger particles between to 25-40 microns in the engine oil, SOMS says its microGreen’s patented microfilter system captures particles down to 2 microns in size. This cleans the oil more effectively — improving the engine life and reducing vehicle maintenance costs, the company said.

“The automotive market has not seen a material advancement in oil filter technology since the early 1970s,” said Miles Flamenbaum, CEO of SOMS Technologies. “By bringing this clean technology to the market, we are confident that we will change the behavior of fleet operators and individuals alike. We are excited to provide an innovative solution which offers tremendous cost savings, while making a significantly positive impact on our environment.”

SOMS Technologies is initially targeting various industries, including enterprises, government organizations, educational institutions and individuals.
