Cooper-Standard Automotive Acquires Stake in Guyoung Technology

Cooper-Standard Automotive has acquired a 20 percent equity interest in Guyoung Technology Co., Ltd. Guyoung supplies metal stamped products to Korean vehicle manufacturers and currently provides Cooper-Standard with stampings for NVH components such as control arms and links. Cooper-Standard established a technical agreement with Guyoung for the development of suspension components in June 2004. Under the new agreement, Cooper-Standard and Guyoung will cooperate in supplying stampings and NVH components to OEM manufacturers worldwide.

KIA Considers Building Larger Assembly Plant in U.S.

Kia Motors, South Korea’s No. 2 automaker, is considering building a bigger factory in the U.S. than the one it previously planned in terms of production capacity, an industry journal reported last week. Kia previously planned to build an assembly plant with 1,500 workers, but the expanded plan involved 2,000 to 2,500 workers, Automotive News reported on its Web site, citing three unnamed officials familiar with the project.

Akebono to Acquire Delphi’s Stake in U.S. Joint Venture

Akebono Brake Industry Co. said Tuesday that it will acquire on Sept. 30 Delphi Corp.’s stake in Ambrake Corp., a 50-50 joint venture, and turn it into a wholly owned subsidiary.
