Following the July 28 passing of John Noel Castle, longtime Dean of Aftermarket Studies of Northwood University, industry executives, including former students of Castle’s, have established a scholarship endowment fund in his honor.
Crash Part Disclosure/Airbag Fraud Bill Passes California Senate
The bill requires all work done and parts supplied by an automotive repair dealer to be recorded on an invoice. The invoice also has to include a statement indicating whether any crash parts to be used are OEM or non-OEM. Existing law already requires repairers to obtain authorization from the customer before performing work and imposing charges.

OBITUARY: Neil McDaniel, Former MEMA Chairman
In 1969, McDaniel became MEMA chairman and also served as president of its Automotive Presidents’ Council. His efforts were recognized in 1971 with MEMA’s highest honor, the Triangle Award.

Government Considers Changes to Vehicle MPG Stickers
One proposal would replace the familiar numeric miles-per-gallon system required on all new cars and light trucks sold with an A, B, C grade system that would include an estimation of how much a driver might save in fuel costs per year.
