Mitchell 1 Names Kevin Krutell 2012 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student
Each year, Mitchell 1 recognizes one U.S. or Canadian high school senior for outstanding achievement in automotive technology and auto shop repair scholastics. Krutell received a $2,500 scholarship, a check for $500 and round trip airfare and accommodations for himself and his mother to attend the NACAT conference.

OTC Awards $202,000 in Scholarships to Finalists of Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge
First place went to Team Autometer from Loara High School in Anaheim, Calif., where the team averaged 31:00 to successfully disassemble and reassemble a 350 Chevy engine using only hand tools, while judges and major industry figures like Vic Edelbrock, Rich Evans and others watched. Each team member won a $10,000 OTC scholarship.

The Robert E. Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award has been presented annually since 2002. Previous recipients include Wally Parks (NHRA), Carroll Shelby, George Barris, Vic Edelbrock, the Ford family, Alex Xydias (So-Cal Speed Shop) and “Speedy” Bill Smith (Speedway Motors).
