Meritor WABCO Vehicle Control Systems has introduced a new technology designed to further improve commercial vehicle safety. Called OnGuard, this industry-first technology is a forward-looking, radar-based adaptive cruise control system with active braking for commercial vehicles in North America. It is currently installed on nearly 200 vehicles and is targeted for third quarter 2008 availability as a factory-installed option at several OEM brands.

Motor vehicle parts suppliers will demonstrate the latest technologies to improve vehicle safety and fuel efficiency at the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association’s (MEMA) second annual Ride and Drive, slated for Thursday and Friday, Oct. 4-5, at RFK Stadium, Parking Lots 6 and 7, in Washington, D.C. Members of Congress, federal agency officials, congressional staff and the media will have the opportunity to test drive vehicles and see displays relating to vehicle safety and fuel efficiency, according to Bob McKenna, MEMA president and CEO.
Bosch Expands Automotive Electronics Engineering Capacity with New Michigan Technical Center
Bosch has opened a new technical center in Plymouth Township, MI, to enhance and expand its engineering and development capacity. The $37.5 million, 225,000-square-foot facility, which sits on 76 acres, houses more than 400 associates. The facility features research and development capabilities, as well as engineering space for its automotive electronics, starter motors and generators and electrical drives divisions.
