Don Seyfer Named CARS 2005 Chairman

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has announced Don Seyfer, AAM, will serve as chairman of the 2005 Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS). Seyfer is a longtime member of ASA and has held numerous industry and association leadership positions over more than four decades in the industry.

American Axle & Manufacturing Reports Fourth Quarter, Full Year 2004 Financial Results

American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. (AAM) has reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year 2004. AAM reported fourth quarter diluted earnings of 61 cents per share compared to 96 cents per share in the fourth quarter of 2003. Earnings for the full year 2004 were $159.5 million as compared to $197.1 million in 2003. Full year 2004 diluted earnings per share were $2.98 as compared to $3.70 per share in 2003.

American Axle & Manufacturing Appoints New Board Member

American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings, Inc. (AAM) has appointed Larry Switzer to its board of directors. Switzer has an extensive background in finance, having served as senior executive vice president and CFO for Fruit of the Loom Inc.; executive vice president and CFO for Alco Standard Corp.; and senior vice president and CFO for S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. He has held senior executive positions at Bendix Corp., White Motor Corp. and Gencorp.

NACE Selects Chairman 2005 Event

Geralynn Kottschade, AAM, co-owner of Jerry’s Body Shop, Mankato, Minn., has been named chairman of the 2005 International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE). Kottschade is the first woman to chair NACE and brings 22 years of collision repair experience to the position.

CIAI was established to aid in the growth, advancement and perception of the collision industry in North America by providing financial assistance to organizations and individuals possessing specific needs and/or goals they are unable to meet on their own.

BodyShop Business Presents Scholarship and Award at NACE

The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) and Babcox Publications have honored Loren Estwick – owner of Loren’s Collision Plus, LLC, in Foley, Minn. – as the recipient of the 2004 BodyShop Business magazine Scholarship. The award was presented at the General Session held during NACE by BodyShop BusinessPublisher Denise Lloyd.

CARS 2004 Sets Attendance Record

The Automotive Service Association has reported that a new attendance record was set with this year’s Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS). More than 700 people were in attendance at this year’s show, held at the Flamingo Las Vegas during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW). CARS is the premier event of the Automotive Service Association’s (ASA) Mechanical Division.
