Scholarship Available To Ohio Tech Students

Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) offers one-year tuition scholarship to OTC student.

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. – Students at Ohio Technical College (OTC) may be able to win a scholarship for a one-year tuition, valued at up to $29,400. The scholarship is part of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Memorial Scholarship Fund (SMSF), which encourages and supports those pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket.

SEMA is a California-based trade organization representing a $31.3 billion industry. Covering all aspects of vehicle customization, the association offers scholarships to students who are interested in the industry, whether it is working hands-on with vehicles or in an office job such as business management, sales, marketing, journalism, IT or international relations.

"Students coming through the SEMA Scholarship Program have demonstrated great potential and share the enthusiasm and passion that has fueled our industry," said Zane Clark, SEMA education director. "Our hope is that we’ll continue to attract highly qualified students who will contribute and make strong, positive impacts in our industry."

Each year, SEMA scholarships award students with scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $3,000, with a $5,000 award going to the top student. A special OTC award is granted to one student from Ohio Technical College to cover a one-year tuition, up to $29,400.

The application deadline is March 28, 2014. For additional details, visit www.sema.org/scholarships or contact Juliet Marshall at [email protected] or 909-978-6655.
