Remy Adds Light-Duty Products to Heavy-Duty Distributor Offering

The company says this single-source distribution model is significant for Remy's customers, who will now have easy and fast access to all the rotating electrics necessary to support highly efficient fleet operations.

PENDLETON, Ind. — Remy International, the manufacturer and distributor of Delco Remy brand heavy-duty starters and alternators, announced this week that the Remy brand of light-duty commercial vehicle products will now be available through traditional Delco Remy distribution channels.

The company says this single-source distribution model is significant for Remy’s customers, who will now have easy and fast access to all the rotating electrics necessary to support highly efficient fleet operations.

"Most medium and heavy truck fleet operators have a number of smaller vehicles, such as walk-in trucks, delivery vehicles and pick-ups supporting their operations," said Eric Bippus, senior vice president of aftermarket sales and marketing. "This consolidation is an important step in making our distribution channels as efficient as possible for our distributors and their customers."

The Remy brand light-duty product catalog contains more than 200 new part numbers for Class 1–3 trucks manufactured by Ford, GMC, Chevrolet and Dodge, including the Sprinter nameplate, from 1995 to the present.

The consolidation of this catalog with the existing heavy-duty offering gives Delco Remy’s distributors access to all starters and alternators required by their fleet customers for Class 1 through Class 8 trucks, the company adds.

In November 2011, Remy rolled out a new, streamlined, organization initiative called "The Power of One," which combines Remy’s light-, medium- and heavy-duty products into one product portfolio, available from one point of distribution.

"The Power of One calls for continuous improvement in broadening our coverage, offering and customer support," added Bippus. "As one of the few global suppliers of aftermarket rotating electrics with an OE expertise, we can deliver a best-in-class portfolio of aftermarket products featuring the latest technology, with the best coverage range in the business, all through one point-of-sale."
