Raybestos ’32 Roadster Pickup on Display at Petersen Museum

The Raybestos Roadster Pickup design was directly inspired by vintage Indy roadster open-wheel race cars of the late 1950s and early 1960s.

LOS ANGELES – This past week, the Raybestos ’32 Roadster Pickup (RPU) — built by Troy Ladd and his team at Hollywood Hot Rods — went on featured display at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, Calif.

“We’re honored that the Petersen was excited enough about the Raybestos RPU to invite it into the museum, for display alongside their amazing collection of historic and iconic rods, racecars, classics and motorcycles,” said Josh Russell, director of sales and marketing at Affinia Global Brake and Chassis, manufacturer of Raybestos brand brake and chassis parts. “With this build, Hollywood Hot Rods truly delivered an amazing blend of traditional hot rod style with modern-era technology and performance.”

The Raybestos Roadster Pickup design was directly inspired by vintage Indy roadster open-wheel race cars of the late 1950s and early 1960s.

“Troy and the guys at Hollywood Hot Rods went absolutely wild demonstrating their talent, embracing the Raybestos heritage in racing and performance brakes, and essentially engineering a full-on race machine that was cleverly disguised as an early 60s-era hot rod,” said Russell.

Museum guests can view the Raybestos Roadster Pickup on display at The Petersen Automotive Museum through Jan. 25, 2011. It will then be removed in preparation for its next high-profile scheduled appearance at the 62nd Grand National Roadster Show, held at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., from Jan. 28-30.

As part of a Raybestos national promotion, the winner of the Raybestos ’32 Roadster Pickup was announced earlier this year. During the sweepstakes, a new interactive website, RaybestosGarage.com, offered a behind-the-scenes view of the entire build process. Visitors received the inside scoop on everything from design inspiration, to chassis and suspension fabrication, power plant selection, brake package engineering, custom paint and finishing work.
