CHANTILLY, VA – Peter Bain was installed as the chairman of the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) during the 2007 International BIG R Show in Las Vegas.

Bain started as an apprentice auto electrician in England and completed his university education at Durham University in Electrical Engineering. From there he moved to Vancouver, B.C., Canada and soon had his own business, set up in three locations under the name of Mr. Spark’s Auto Electric and International Rebuilders. These businesses did every aspect of the auto electric trade, from the normal rebuilding and service work on all types of automotive and light trucks to transportation trucks, tug boats, fishing fleets, logging machinery, mining machinery to even mounting the gun racks and light bars on the new police cars.

Bain also taught marine navigation and boating courses at night school. While serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce in Vancouver both he and his wife Roslyn were awarded business people of the year. He later was awarded entrepreneur of the year.

Bain then moved to California where he started McCarron Industries and specialized in remanufacturing mostly HD and transit units. Bain was invited to Miami to research the possibility of starting a company that would manufacture rectifiers and regulators. From there, Rand Premium Electronics was formed and now is a successful and growing company.

When asked about the challenges of his new position as the 2008 APRA Chairman, Bain said, “I look forward to working with the board and membership to do whatever the job requires. Our association is very fortunate to have a strong networking system in place. APRA’s strength lies in its professionalism and the diverse knowledge and wealth of experience of its membership. I look forward to continuing to meet and find more of this wealth of talent, whether it be through attending seminars or simply talking to rebuilders and vendors about their new, innovative ideas or hearing about the challenges they face. APRA is the epicenter and future of the remanufacturing industry and I’m blessed and proud to be a part of it.”

Bain will serve as APRA Chairman through the close of the Big R Show, which takes place Nov. 1-3, 2008 in Las Vegas.
