LAS VEGAS — The Production Engine Remanufacturers Association (PERA) officially launched its new Web site — www.EngineDataSource.com — designed to serve as a complete source of engine data. PERA first announced a beta version of the site in June 2004.

PERA planned to officially launch the new site today during the opening of the AERA Expo in Las Vegas, just prior to the PERA Spring Meeting taking place tomorrow and Friday.

“EngineDataSource is the single, most complete source of engine data available to all segments of the automotive aftermarket,” said PERA President Denny Janisewski of Gopher Motors Rebuilding, Inc. “Machine shops, repair facilities and private car owners now have one place to go to get complete engine data for any engine they are working on.”

According to Mark Spaulding of AER Mfg., Inc. and Vice President of PERA, EngineDataSource now has complete casting numbers, specification tables, parts listings and even instructions for all domestic engines with popular foreign engines now being added.

Janisewski added, “Never has this much shared engine data been available to everyone, all with the click of a mouse. This program saves time and money for the rebuilder because the quality of the information is all in one place. This has meant real cost savings for our company.”

Roy Berndt of the PERA Technical Department summed up, “This new service is a source of technical information to help the custom, production or do-it-yourself engine rebuilder. There are casting numbers and pictures to help identify the major components as well as the differences between similar components. The service provides a major component bill of materials from participating aftermarket suppliers. And, one of the best features is that everything is mapped to AAIA standards.”

“Recently added to www.EngineDataSource.com are critical dimension and wear limits, original specifications, torques with sequence diagrams as well as disassembly and assembly instructions and illustrations provided by Mitchell 1. We are very excited about this arrangement with Mitchell because it really enhances the service,” Janisewski added.
