FRANKFURT, Germany – Twenty-five exhibitors with particularly sustainable and emission-reduced products have been selected for inclusion in the "Green Directory" visitor guide for the 2012 Automechanika Frankfurt, Sept. 11-16 in Germany.
The competition for selection was open to all exhibitors of Automechanika 2012. In all, 57 companies submitted products in eight categories (Parts, Systems, Accessories, Tuning, Repair/ Diagnostics, Repair/ Maintenance, IT & Management, Service Station & Car Wash). Forty percent of the submissions came from companies based in Germany, with 60 percent from other countries.
An independent expert, Dr. Gerhard Angerer of the Fraunhofer-Institute for System and Innovation Research ISI, examined all entries for innovation and sustainability. Points were awarded for the subsequent evaluation of material and energy efficiency, as well as the carbon footprint. The 25 entrants with the most points have been included in the Green Directory, the visitor guide to Automechanika 2012, which will be distributed at the fair and, from the end of August, be available as an e-paper at www.automechanika.com. Additionally, visitors will find a striking green logo in and around the exhibition halls to help them find their way to these exhibitors.
Since 2010, the individual product gaining the most points in the competition has been singled out for a special award. This year, the highest score was achieved by Prins Autogassystemen BV with its Prins Direct LiquiMax System, a bivalent fuel system for petrol and liquid petroleum gas. This highly complex system is innovative, makes a contribution to environmental protection and enables the driver to use cheaper fuel without suffering any restrictions on mobility. It is suitable for the aftermarket as a retro-fit product and for automobile manufacturers as original equipment.
