Shell is leveraging its relationship with Richard Childress Racing (RCR), Kevin Harvick and the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil car in an effort to drive traffic and sales at Shell branded service stations in the U.S. Since the company’s re-entry into the sport last year, Shell has created a number of national and local brand-building opportunities for wholesalers and retailers by providing chances for them to become a part of the NASCAR ‘buzz.’

Shell Oil Signs Multi-Year Sponsorship with Richard Childress Racing

Shell Oil has announced its return to NASCAR through a multi-year primary sponsorship of Richard Childress Racing (RCR). Through the sponsorship both Shell and Pennzoil brands will be featured on the No. 29 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS to be driven by Kevin Harvick in the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series. Shell will also be the associate sponsor on other RCR cars including the No. 31 Cup car driven by Jeff Burton and the No. 07 Cup car driven by Clint Bowyer.

BASF and Shell to Sell Their Stakes in Basell

BASF and Shell Chemicals announced today they will sell their 50-50 joint venture, Basell, to a consortium led by New York-based Access Industries and The Chatterjee Group, a privately-held investment firm. Basell is the world’s largest producer of polypropylene and advanced polyolefins used in a wide number of applications, including in the packaging and automotive industries and for consumer goods.

Shell, Shanghai Automotive in Car Maintenance Joint Venture in China

The Royal Dutch/Shell Group said it has teamed up with Shanghai Automotive Group Co Ltd to launch a car maintenance service for motorists in China. The 50-50 joint venture, called Anji Jiffy Lube Automotive Services Co. Ltd., will build a network of fast lube service outlets modeled on the ‘Jiffy Lube’ chain in the U.S.

Shell Racing Solutions Announces Distribution Agreement

Shell Racing Solutions has signed an agreement with Performance Products LLC to distribute Shell Racing Fuels to the U.S. motorsports industry. Performance Products has 15 years of experience in the U.S. race fuels business. Performance Products has serviced professional race series such as Indy Racing League (IRL) and Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) and will distribute Shell Racing Solutions race fuels to top tier, as well as grassroots and club racing circuits.
