ASE Board Announces Staff Changes

The Board of Directors of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has announced several staff changes within the organization. The board has named COO/CFO Tim Zilke to succeed Ron Weiner, ASE’s president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2008. Weiner has served as ASE’s president and CEO for 25 years. Zilke is a 15-year veteran of ASE. Other changes within the organization include the promotion of Trish Serratore to senior vice president and the extension of Bill Kersten’s tenure as president of the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation. Originally set to retire in 2008, Kersten has agreed to remain in his position to continue the work he began in 2005.

AMI Announces 2006 BodyShop Business Magazine Scholarship Recipient

The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) and Babcox Publications have announced that Dick DeLaere, controller, Autobody USA in Kalamazoo, MI, is the recipient of this year’s BodyShop Business Magazine Scholarship. AMI and Babcox present the scholarship annually to recognize management-oriented members of the Automotive Service Association Collision Division. The recipient receives $1,000 to be applied toward expenses to attend the International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) in Las Vegas, Nov. 1-4.

Keystone Automotive Acquires Automotive Parts Distributor in Massachusetts

Keystone Automotive has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Veng USA, headquartered in Seekonk, MA. Veng USA recorded revenues of approximately $37.1 million over the twelve months ended Aug. 31. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition is scheduled to close on Oct. 31, subject to the satisfaction of certain customary conditions.

Two Solution Providers Become First to Receive New CIECA Certification

The Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association (CIECA) has announced that solution providers ProcessClaims and ADP Claims Services Group are the first companies to become certified under this new program.

Crump to Chair NACE 2004 in Las Vegas

The International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) has re-appointed Vernon Crump, body shop director for John Eagle Collision Center in Dallas, Texas, as chairman for NACE 2004, which will be held Nov. 3-6, in Las Vegas, to coincide with Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW). Crump was NACE 2003 chairman and received accolades for his leadership and experience, and for the innovative programs he introduced at NACE to spotlight new technologies and to strengthen industry and global relationships.
