Timken Receives Supplier Quality Award From Renault

Timken has been presented with a Supplier Quality Award by Renault, a leading European auto manufacturer. One of only three companies to receive the award, Timken was selected from among more than 600 Renault parts suppliers worldwide. The award acknowledges Timken’s excellent results in incoming quality and performance in customer satisfaction.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions Names Preferred Partners For 2005

Jasper Engines & Transmissions has named its Preferred Partners for 2005. The recipients of the award are: Federal-Mogul, Dana-Clevite, Dana-Spicer, Transtar, Mahle, Inc., Grant Iron and Motors and Elgin Industries. The awards were presented during the Jasper Engines & Transmissions 18th Annual Preferred Partners Banquet on March 9. The Jasper Engines & Transmissions’ Preferred Partner Award is presented annually to recognize the company’s Partners in Success. According to Doug Bawel, president of Jasper Engines and Transmissions, this year just seven of the company’s 1,400 suppliers received the Preferred Partner recognition.

PERA Spring Program Set for Las Vegas April 29-30, 2005

The next meeting of the Production Engine Remanufacturers Association (PERA) will be held on April 29-30, at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. The PERA Spring Meeting will be held at the same time as the AERA Expo.

Auto Suppliers Under Pressure to Shift Production Abroad

A new study soon to be released by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) is showing that the pressure to move automotive manufacturing jobs abroad will continue, despite federal and local government efforts to maintain or increase industry employment levels in the U.S. The SAE will release the report at the 2004 SAE World Congress in Detroit next month. The study, which is still under development, will outline “best practices” for global automotive suppliers. The Odyssey study seeks to help suppliers understand how their global manufacturing operations will need to change and how best to make those changes to survive and thrive.
