The company also received honors from Hainan Mazda, a joint-venture firm created in 1992 by Mazda; FAW VW, joint-venture between Volkswagen and First Automotive Works; and Brilliance Auto, one of China’s leading domestic car companies.

TI Automotive Names New President for its Global Fuel Systems Division

Brian Lindsay has been named president of TI Automotive’s Global Fuel Systems Division. He was previously the division’s global managing director of commercial and purchasing operations. A native of Motherwell, Scotland, Lindsay joined TI Automotive in 1999 and had previously led the European fuel systems division, as well as being European and Asia Pacific commercial director.

TI Automotive to Close Connecticut Auto Parts Plant

British-based TI Automotive Systems plans to shutter its Meriden, CT, facility, cutting all 414 jobs. The company, which makes fuel and fluid carrying systems used in automotive brakes and powertrains, has 29 facilities in the U.S., including the Meriden location. The company employs 20,000 people in 130 facilities in 28 countries.

TI Automotive has supplied Toyota operations in South Africa for more than 20 years and currently produces brake and fuel lines for the Corolla, TAZ and new IMV Hilux built at the automaker’s Durban plant.

TI Automotive Subsidiary to Build in Alabama

Hanil USA, a subsidiary of TI Automotive, is developing a new, multi-million-dollar manufacturing facility in Tallassee, AL. The plant will assemble plastic and steel tube components used in fuel-system assemblies for vehicles produced at a Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama facility in Montgomery, AL.

TI Automotive Opens State-of-the-Art Fuel Tank Plant in Georgia

TI Automotive has opened its new $30 million state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in northeast Georgia to produce automotive fuel-tank systems. The plant initially will manufacture blow-molded plastic fuel tanks and filler pipes for vehicles built in nearby Southern states by BMW, DaimlerChrysler and Hyundai. The plant initially will employ 100 people and has booked business to produce more than 480,000 automotive fuel-tank systems annually. The facility will begin pilot production in September of this year.

Parts Depot Buys Tri-Citi Automotive Warehouse

Roanoke-based Parts Depot (PDI) has purchased Tri-Citi Automotive Warehouse, a National Pronto Association member based in Tampa, Fla. Tri-Citi currently operates one warehouse and four stores, and serves more than 100 independent jobbers across the mid-Florida region.

TI Automotive Adds Three to Management Ranks

TI Automotive has appointed three executives to key management positions. Rick Hein has become global commercial and IT director for TI Automotive’s fluid carry systems group, a newly created position, in Warren, Mich. Previously, he was responsible for the division’s quality and IT strategy. Rick will continue to report directly to Rich Kolpasky, president of global fluid carrying systems.
