Federal Signal and 3M Launch New Electronic Vehicle Registration Solution

The PIPS Technology subsidiary of Federal Signal Corp.’s Safety and Security Systems Group has entered into a cooperative marketing agreement with 3M Corp. to provide an electronic vehicle registration (EVR) solution to the transportation market segment. EVR is a fully integrated, turnkey solution that incorporates automated license/number plate recognition (ALPR/ANPR) technology from PIPS and passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology. The solution can automatically identify vehicles and validate the identity, status and authenticity of the data associated with that vehicle through vehicle registration databases, insurance information, property tax records or other characteristics that may be tied to the vehicle.
