Worker-employer relationships are changing. In addition to full-time, part-time and job-sharing options, employers are developing and enhancing alternative relationships with other employers and individuals in contingent arrangements. Over the next few years, outsourcing will increase. For-profit corporations, not-for-profits, government agencies and school systems will all distribute work to outside contractors. As more small companies are formed to meet the exploding need, expect an increase in the number of outsourced service providers.
MACS Names New Events Manager
Wendy Moyer has joined the staff at the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide as its new events manager. Moyer has previous experience with event planning and management for the PGA tour and has a background in broadcast production. In her new role at MACS, Moyer’s duties will include management and planning of the MACS annual trade show and mobile A/C training clinics.
Tenneco Automotive Names Two New VPs
Tenneco Automotive has named James Perkins as vice president and controller and John Kunz as vice president and treasurer. Perkins joins Tenneco Automotive from GE Medical Systems Information Technology, where he most recently was director, commercial operations. Kunz joins Tenneco Automotive from Great Lakes Chemical Corp., where he most recently served as vice president and treasurer.
Bill Grote Names Eric Morris President and COO of Grote Industries, Grote to Assume Chairman/CEO Role
Eric Morris has been appointed to the newly created post of president and COO at Grote Industries. William (Bill) Grote III will assume duties of chairman and CEO at the 103-year-old family owned company. Grote Industries is a designer and manufacturer of vehicle safety systems. Headquartered in Madison, Ind., Grote manufactures LED and incandescent lamps, mirrors, obstacle detection systems, reflective accessories and wiring components. The company has other manufacturing plants in Toronto and Waterloo, Canada, as well as Monterrey, Mexico.

American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings (AAM) has appointed two new members to its board of directors: Dr. Henry Yang, chancellor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Thomas Martin, a retired DaimlerChrysler financial executive.

It took a visionary leader, Howard Schultz, coupled with an ambitious operating plan and enterprise management technology to morph the business into the worldwide coffeehouse chain and merchandising success story we see today. And this all happened in an incredibly short period of time…with growth from 17 outlets in 1987 to 7,225 outlets today. All of this was based on the simple premise, “We already have customers who buy our coffee beans — what if we brewed the coffee for them, too?” We see a similar opportunity in parts distribution.
Bridgestone Americas’ Lampe To Retire
John Lampe, chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas Holding, who led the company’s remarkable recovery after devastating tire recalls in late 2000 and early 2001, announced today that he is retiring effective Mar. 31. He will be succeeded as chairman and CEO of BAH by Mark Emkes, currently chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire (BFNAT). Lampe announced his retirement this afternoon during a company-wide live Web cast and conference call. In addition, Lampe and Emkes granted Tire Review an exclusive in-depth interview about the retirement and the company’s future plans earlier this morning.
MEMA Names New Director of Finance and Administration
Wendy Earp has been promoted to director of finance and administration for MEMA. She formerly served as the association’s controller, a position she has held since May 2001. Earp succeeds Joseph “Joe” Griscti, who is retiring after 22 years of service to the association and industry.
