ArvinMeritor Wins Transmission Technology Dispute

The U.S. Patent Board of Appeals and Patent Interferences has issued judgment in favor of ArvinMeritor against Eaton Corp. on all claims in two related transmission patent interferences. The decision was rendered on April 29. The interferences involved an ArvinMeritor U.S. patent on torque prediction technology. Torque prediction is an enabling technology for some automated transmissions.

Cooper Tire and Rubber has announced five new executive appointments, as a result of a realignment within the company’s tire group. The realignment was designed to better focus on target markets, support the company’s strategic plan and ensure the right resources are in place to grow the tire business globally, the company said.

German Auto Parts Makers Tour Southern U.S. Sites

Ten executives from German companies that serve the automotive industry are in Charlotte, N.C., and upstate South Carolina this week to investigate expansion sites. George Dettloff Appointed President of SKF’s North American Automotive Division

Chicago Rawhide Americas President George Dettloff has been appointed president of SKF’s North American Automotive Division, which manufactures seals and bearings for the automotive industry. In his new position, Detloff will oversee all of the division’s North American original equipment and aftermarket operations, including financial, sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing. He assumes these new responsibilities in addition to his current position as president.
