Oxford Automotive Canada Files for Bankruptcy
The Canadian Auto Workers was pouring over legal documents Thursday night to see how much in benefits and pensions could be lost for hundreds of retirees and laid off workers at Oxford Automotive Canada. Union officials told a Chatham, Ont., radio station that the company filed for bankruptcy last weekend.

Online registration for the 2004 International Autobody Congress & Exposition (NACE) is now open. NACE 2004 will be held Nov. 3-6 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAIW). Attendees can register online for the NACE Exposition and AAIW shows (SEMA and AAPEX), and also receive an early discounted NACE Congress Package (good until July 14th).
Ontario to Pay to Attract Auto Plants
With automakers bypassing Ontario and choosing instead to build plants in the U.S. and Mexico, the Ontario government plans to spend $500 million Canadian (about $372 million US) over the next five years to entice automakers to invest in the province.
California Legislators to Attend Car Care Month Event in Sacramento
ASC, CAWA and NASCAR will join AAIA in recognizing April as National Car Care Month at a special event for California legislators, local media and area aftermarket representatives. A reception and private showing of the new “Experience NASCAR” movie at the IMAX theater near the state capitol is scheduled for April 13.
