“Collaboration” was the predominant theme at the Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) 2013 ToolTech event, held April 23-25 at the Hyatt Mission Bay in San Diego. A host of representatives from across the aftermarket industry presented ToolTech attendees with their insights and concerns about the future of the aftermarket and its relationships with the OEMs.
Equipment and Tool Institute Launches Important J2534 Market Research Study
In an effort to assist its members in bringing new and improved equipment and tools to the marketplace, The Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) has launched a series of market research projects. The current survey is an update to research done in 2009 and covers Flash Reprogramming, or J2534, as it is also known.
Equipment and Tool Institute Event Aims at Renewing OEM, Aftermarket Partnerships
The theme of this year’s event, “OEMs and the Aftermarket – A New Direction – Renewed Partnership,” was designed to help bridge the gap that vehicle manufacturers have with promoting factory tools and equipment to aftermarket customers, and to help satisfy the aftermarket need for OEM information and tools.
NASTF Spring Meeting to Spotlight Communication Between OEs and the Aftermarket
Other presentations during the Spring meeting will cover suggestions for improving NASTF awareness within the aftermarket community, as well as committee reports covering service information, collision repair, tools and equipment, communications and vehicle security.

Ron Pyle, president and chief staff officer, Automotive Service Association in Bedford, Texas, is chair, with Allen Pennebaker, president of Orinda Motors in Orinda, Calif., and past-president of the Automotive Service Councils of California, as vice chair.
