Meritor Awarded Funding to Reduce Energy Consumption
The company received an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Grant for $128,000 from the Ohio Department of Development’s Office of Energy, through participation in the Energy Efficiency Program for Manufacturers. Additionally, Meritor earned a $72,000 grant from American Electric Power (AEP) Ohio through its energy-saving rebate program reflecting annual electricity savings of 1.5 million kilowatt hours resulting from the installation of 2,383 high-efficiency lighting fixtures during a 36-month period.

Automotive Parts Associates President and CEO Dan Freeman Announces Retirement
Freeman joined APA as national sales manager in January of 1989 and has served as president and CEO since May of 1999. His career began in 1964 in Cleveland, when joined his family’s business, MTM Auto Parts Co., after attending The Ohio State University. In the 1970s, Freeman developed an auto parts packaging company called Sea-Gate Automotive Distribution Center, which he sold to AI Automotive, a chain of 23 auto parts warehouses. Freeman remained as president and relocated the operation to New Orleans. He changed the name to Resource Automotive Products and developed an import, export program, further expanding the product offering.
