Joe DePaulis Joins AASA as Director of Membership, Services

Joe DePaulis has joined the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) as the director of membership and services. CARQUEST Announces 2004 Vendor of the Year and Technology Award Winners

CARQUEST recently named East Penn Manufacturing, supplier of CARQUEST Batteries and Battery Accessories, as its 2004 Vendor of the Year. The company also presented Technology Awards to four vendors: Gates Corp., which supplies CARQUEST Belts & Hose; the Affinia Group, supplier of CARQUEST Filters and Brakes; CARDONE, supplier of CARQUEST Remanufactured Products; and Airtex Products, supplier of CARQUEST Fuel Pumps. The awards were presented during CARQUEST’s annual Executive Briefing on April 13.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions Names Preferred Partners For 2005

Jasper Engines & Transmissions has named its Preferred Partners for 2005. The recipients of the award are: Federal-Mogul, Dana-Clevite, Dana-Spicer, Transtar, Mahle, Inc., Grant Iron and Motors and Elgin Industries. The awards were presented during the Jasper Engines & Transmissions 18th Annual Preferred Partners Banquet on March 9. The Jasper Engines & Transmissions’ Preferred Partner Award is presented annually to recognize the company’s Partners in Success. According to Doug Bawel, president of Jasper Engines and Transmissions, this year just seven of the company’s 1,400 suppliers received the Preferred Partner recognition.

Remy International Announces Fourth Quarter Results

Remy International announced net sales of $255.8 million and adjusted EBITDA of $23 million for the fourth quarter, which ended Dec. 31, 2004. Net sales increased $11.7 million, or 4.8 percent, and adjusted EBITDA decreased $6.4 million, or 21.7 percent, compared with the fourth quarter of 2003. Operating income of $17.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2004 compares with an operating loss of $96.6 million in the same period of 2003. The company said the fourth quarter of 2003 reflects the special charges associated with the core inventory valuation of $103.9 million and the Mexico Arbitration award of $14.3 million, along with restructuring charges of $1.7 million.
