AAIA Outstanding Service Award Presented to David Scheer

David Scheer, president of Inland Truck Parts Co., received the prestigious 2007 AAIA Outstanding Service Award on Jan. 21. The AAIA Outstanding Service Award is given to those who have shown their dedication to the causes and ideals of the industry through countless hours of volunteer time spent to accomplish a goal. Scheer played an integral role in the all-industry breakthrough agreement that brought the Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network in as an HDAW sponsor and has been instrumental in the success of HDAW. He formed the Commercial Vehicle Task Force, comprised of eight leading industry groups, to resolve the problem of restricted product and repair information access in the heavy duty marketplace.

Famed CBS Broadcast Journalist Bob Schieffer to Headline 2007 AAIA Town Hall

Bob Schieffer, anchor of “Face the Nation” and CBS news chief Washington correspondent, will headline this year’s AAIA Town Hall in Las Vegas. Hosted by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) and sponsored by NASCAR Performance, the Town Hall will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 7 am in the Palazzo Ballroom in the Venetian Hotel.

R. L. Polk & Co’s Ask the Industry: Great Ideas for National Car Care Month Events

National Car Care Month (NCCM) officially begins in just under a week, but there’s still time to take a few cues from current NCCM participants and plan your own great event. To mark NCCM, automotive repair shops, parts stores, distributors and vocational schools throughout the country will offer free vehicle check-up events and car care aware fairs for consumers, according to the Car Care Council, the organization that spearheads the campaign. During these events, automotive technicians check the vehicle’s lubricants and fluids, windshield wipers, belts and hoses, the battery, tires and lighting.  But many aftermarket organizations go way beyond simply offering vehicle safety inspections, developing events that showcase the aftermarket industry and also reach out to their communities.
