OTC Continues to Extend Pegisys Offerings

New "J" Kits continue lineage of best-in-class offerings; include additional diagnostic repair functionality and J2534 reprogramming capability, advanced vehicle coverage, and a special trade in offer.

OWATONNA, Minn. — OTC, an SPX brand, continues to extend its widely adopted Pegisys diagnostic platform with the release of its new “J” Kits, which essentially bundle the latest technician-requested software and hardware enhancements, and is now included with every Pegisys purchase.

Based on direct input from technicians, important new features include a six-month initial subscription for Domestic/Asian enhanced software with Pegisys diagnostic information and all of the necessary software cables, additional diagnostic repair functionality and J2534 reprogramming capability, a 90-day subscription to Direct-Hit Technician, powered by Identifix, and a special trade-in offer. Also, with each new Pegisys purchased, the customer will receive a certificate for on-site tool familiarization and setup service from a certified SPX trainer.

"When it comes to completing the job, techs appreciate ‘at the fender’ access to Direct-Hit Technician’s extensive experience-based diagnostic information data as an invaluable part of the Pegisys tool," said Ed Lipscomb, OTC senior product manager of diagnostic systems. "And now, this coverage enhancement is included in the new ‘J’ Kits for 90 days at no additional charge."

Pegisys’ open architecture enables technicians to fundamentally change the way they operate and control their diagnostic systems. Pegisys is available in the handset version or for users who have an understanding of computer technology and can embrace this change, the use of an open-architecture environment offers them the option to run specialized Pegisys software in conjunction with a laptop PC of their choice in place of the Pegisys handset tool, to allow scan tool and reprogramming functionality.

"With reprogramming becoming more and more prevalent in the automotive industry, having J2534 reprogramming capabilities is a must for any forward-thinking shop," added Lipscomb. "The ‘J’ Kits comes loaded with software that allow Pegisys owners to access J2534 functionality, which is already built into the Pegisys."

Additionally, for technicians who want to maximize the workflow through the shop, OTC is including a limited time trade-in coupon that offers technicians the option to trade-in their old scan tool when purchasing a new Pegisys. There are certain required elements that apply, but essentially, technicians that trade in an old scan tool will receive an additional six-month subscription for Domestic/Asian enhanced software and a Euro Starter Kit (P/N 3835-01).
