OEM Components, U.S.A. Switch Acquire Rostra Precision Controls

WIXOM, Mich. — OEM Components and U.S.A. Switch Inc., manufacturers of automotive transmission and engine management electronics and controls, have acquired Rostra Precision Controls, Inc., a leading supplier of transmission components, cruise control systems, rear obstacle sensing systems and electronic controls for the automotive and heavy truck aftermarket. Rostra also supplies OEMs with its products.

Thomas Petrillo, founder of OEM Components and U.S.A. Switch Inc., teamed with the private equity firm Superior Capital to form Aftermarket Controls Corp. and purchase Rostra Precision Controls. Aftermarket Controls Corp. will be the parent company of OEM Components, U.S.A. Switch Inc. and Rostra Precision Controls.

"The synergies between OEM Components’ and U.S.A. Switch’s deep understanding of the transmission and engine management aftermarket teamed with Rostra’s world-class engineering and manufacturing capabilities will allow us to expand our product line, better serve our customers and develop new, exciting opportunities for our supply partners," said Petrillo, president and CEO of Aftermarket Controls Corp.

OEM Components and U.S.A. Switch, both located in Wixom, Mich., operate several distribution facilities in North America and an international sales office near Miami, Fla. Since its founding in 1992, the company has expanded its product line to more than 2,000 part numbers for both original equipment and aftermarket underhood and drivetrain products.

Rostra’s 77,000-square-foot manufacturing facility produces transmission solenoids and sensors, rear obstacle sensing and park assist systems, cruise controls, comfort products, electronic controls and other automotive accessories. Brand names include RearSight, ROSS, ParkPilot, Comfort Heat and Comfort Seat.

"We have a great history with Rostra as a customer and partner, and we are enthusiastic about combining all three companies’ strengths to benefit our common customer base with enhanced distribution, improved opportunity to produce engine management components and new OEM relationships," Petrillo added.
