In July, Tenneco Automotive will offer a new line of Monroe Reflex monotube-style shock absorbers for domestic light trucks and SUVs that were originally equipped with monotube units.

Tenneco said the new offering will initially include 23 part numbers, covering Chevrolet 1500 Silverado 4WD (1999-04), K1500/C1550 4WD (1987-00), and S-10 4WD (1994-03) models; Hummer H2 (2003-04); Ford Ranger FX4 4WD (2002-04) and F-150 4WD (1997-03); and Jeep Grand Cherokee (1993-04) with Up Country Suspension.

“Our OE-inspired approach to product design helps ensure that Monroe dealers won’t have to face unhappy customers who are surprised by the harsher ride that often results from the use of monotube technology on applications that are not designed for the additional spring rate,” said Mark Christiaanse, director of product management for the Monroe product line.

“Vehicle manufacturers identify the ideal ride control technology for each model; using a non-OE design can change spring rates and lead to degraded comfort and control. The result could be a costly service comeback,” he added.
