WASHINGTON, DC The 2007 New Jersey General Assembly session has ended without consideration of A 931, a state version of the ‘The Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act.”
First introduced in 2006, the New Jersey Assembly’s Consumer Affairs Committee initially voted unanimously to pass A-931, which was proposed to give New Jersey motorists the ability to choose where, how and by whom their vehicles are repaired, as well as whose parts they wish to purchase.
The bill has been re-introduced for the 2008-2009 session as “A803.” The bill’s primary sponsors are Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D) and Assemblywomen Nilsa Cruz-Perez (D) and Bonnie Watson Coleman, majority leader. There are 11 other co-sponsors of the bill.
