New Automotive Aftermarket Group Provides Forum For Discussion of China’s Market Issues

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) has established the China Aftermarket Forum, a new discussion group for aftermarket executives heading their businesses’ Chinese operations.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) has established the China Aftermarket Forum, a new discussion group for aftermarket executives heading their businesses’ Chinese operations.

“China is a fast growing market with more than 20 million vehicles on the road already and new cars sales in 2004 of more than five million. We are forming this group to meet the needs of our members with operations in China selling products in the country’s aftermarket,” said Paul Foley, president of AASA. “We are discovering that China will be a very unique market with complicated dynamics and there aren’t lessons learned that can be shared. Dialogue among peers will be instrumental for companies of all sizes to share experiences and shape the market.”

The group’s organization meeting is slated for 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the City Hotel in Shanghai.

The new Forum is based on AASA’s successful European Aftermarket Forum, which was formed in 2004.

The China Aftermarket Forum will provide a venue for AASA members’ senior executives in the country. The members will meet quarterly to discuss industry issues and solutions, share best practices and network with peers.

The council’s meeting format will include roundtable discussions of topics determined by the members. At each meeting’s close, the group will select discussion topics for the next meeting. Speakers will be invited to address specific subjects.

Membership is limited to members of MEMA’s three market segments: AASA, the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association and the Original Equipment Suppliers Association.
