Microsoft AI Expert Added to Aftermarket Technology Conference

Kaivan Karimi, an automotive AI expert with Microsoft, will present on using responsible AI to benefit society.

Artificial intelligence (AI) will dominate the discussions at the 2023 Aftermarket Technology Conference presented by MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers, part of MEMA, The Vehicle Suppliers Association. Held October 9-11, 2023 at the Genuine Parts Company (GPC) headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., four sessions at this year’s Tech Conference will focus on 2023’s technological breakthrough: AI.

Just added to the speaker line up is Kaivan Karimi, global partner strategy and OT cybersecurity lead, automotive, mobility and transportation at Microsoft. During his presentation titled, “Using Responsible AI to Benefit Society vs. The Wild, Wild West,” Karimi will cover the differences between highly curated and guard-railed “responsible AI” versus the “wild, wild west” versions of AI available in these early days of this transformative technology.

“It is a strategic move to have Kaivan Karimi join us during the Business Technology Session at this year’s Aftermarket Technology Conference,” said Chris Gardner, senior vice president, programs and technology, at MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers. “According to Karimi, responsible AI is developed and deployed to help improve society, and his session will give insight into how the technology can shift the current paradigm in cybersecurity and help aftermarket companies do more with less.”

Other AI-focused sessions include:

  • “AI & Vehicles: A Good Match?” with Ben Ellencweig, senior partner at McKinsey and a noted thought leader in automotive and commercial vehicle AI;
  • “ChatGPT & AI Applications for the Aftermarket” with Tilak Kasturi, founder and CEO of Predii; David Brondstetter, CEO of SureCritic; and Scott Brown, industry ambassador with Diagnostic Network;
  • “Heavy Duty Data,” a sponsored breakout from JNPSoft OptiCat and TecAlliance with demonstrations of AI for heavy-duty product cataloging, featuring Kyle Johnson, director of business development, and Christian Krause, lead for data science and machine learning at JNPSoft OptiCat.

The 2023 Aftermarket Technology Conference will bring together key players from across the aftermarket ecosystem, including suppliers, distributors, retailers, and technology providers, fostering an environment of innovation and cooperation, MEMA Aftermarket Supliers said. Leaders in heavy-duty technology, automotive technology and business technology are encouraged to attend.
