MEMA will present its first State Leadership Award to S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Drive Automotive in Piedmont, S.C.
Haley has been a champion for motor vehicle parts manufacturers in South Carolina. Countless suppliers have commented on her keen awareness of the benefits the industry provides to the citizens of her state. With more than 24,000 direct employees in South Carolina, motor vehicle parts manufacturing is an integral part of the state economy.
Haley was elected the 116th governor of South Carolina on Nov. 2, 2010. The governor was first elected to represent the 87th District in Lexington County in 2004. In 2008, then-Rep. Haley was sent back to the Statehouse with 83 percent of the vote the highest percentage earned by any lawmaker facing a contested South Carolina election that year. She won the Republican Party nomination for governor on June 22, 2010.
All members of AASA, HDMA, MERA and OESA with a South Carolina facility are encouraged to attend the award presentation followed by a fundraising luncheon. To RSVP for the award presentation or fundraising luncheon, contact Allison Finder.
