RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Japanese Automotive Manufacturers Association (JAMA) invite suppliers to apply to participate in the 11th MEMA/JAMA “One on One” Business Conference, on Wednesday, May 23, through Friday, May 25, 2006, at the Hotel Intercontinental and Pan Pacific Hotel in Yokohama, Japan.
The conference coincides with the Japan SAE Show in Yokohama May 24-26, 2006. The purpose of the conference is to expand business relationships between North American automotive suppliers and Japanese vehicle manufacturers.
This year, for the first time, the “One on One” Conference is being coordinated by the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA), MEMA’s OE market segment association.
The 2006 business conference features a series of private, pre-scheduled company-to-company business meetings between suppliers and senior purchasing and engineering executives from Japanese OEMs. Approximately 32 North American suppliers will participate. Companies with unique technologies will be given extra consideration. The meetings are open to U.S. and Canadian suppliers with manufacturing or technical facilities in North America.
Suppliers participating in the “One on One” meetings should bring key staff, product displays and literature to facilitate discussion about key offerings to the Japanese OEMs. For 2006, JAMA identified safety, fuel cells and environmental protection as technical areas of interest.
OESA will only accept applications electronically and final participants are qualified by JAMA. The application deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 1. Companies will be notified of selection in March 2006, and will receive support from OESA staff to make arrangements for the “One on One” Business Conference at that time. There is a $750 application fee.
