Consumers can get a better understanding of the Motorist Assurance Program (MAP) service standards, thanks to a new program allowing them three free look-ups of MAP’s Uniform Inspection and Communication Standards (UICS).
The UICS are available online at http://www.motorist.org.
Previously, these standards were available only to members of the Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association (AMRA) and to MAP participating shops. AMRA said giving consumers the ability to view the UICS guidelines, which provide information as to why a repair is “required” or “suggested,” will help consumers understand why a repair is being considered.
“This is another example of MAP helping consumers communicate with their auto repair technicians,” said MAP President Larry Hecker. “When a person understands why a repair is being recommended, it makes them a smarter consumer, which is what we want to promote.”
