ALBION, Ill. For more than 75 years, Luber-finer has provided filters used by on- and off-highway heavy-duty fleets, and the company says it is proud to acknowledge the contributions of our nation’s 3.1 million professional truck drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
Truck drivers play a pivotal role in one of the United States economy’s most demanding and important jobs. According to American Trucking Associations (ATA), which began celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week in 1988 in an effort to honor the hard-working men and women who deliver life’s essentials, the nation’s truck drivers log close to 398 billion miles each year and in 2011 delivered 67 percent of U.S. freight tonnage, or more than 9.2 billion tons of freight. In all, around 80 percent of U.S. communities depend solely on the trucking industry to receive their goods.
“We are very aware of the critical contributions truck drivers make to the timely, efficient delivery of our Luber-finer products, as well as in their use of those products to keep their rigs running smoothly no matter the application or driving conditions,” said Pete Haskell, director of heavy-duty sales for Luber-finer. “Simply put, truck drivers are the backbone of the trucking industry and the overall U.S. economy. It is with great pleasure that we honor all truck drivers and recognize their contributions during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.”
