During the Auto Care Association’s Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., The Subcommittee on Innovation, Data and Commerce scheduled a hearing on The REPAIR Act (Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair). The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. September 27, where key witnesses and experts will be able to testify on the importance of H.R. 906. You can view the livestream of the hearing here.
“This is huge,” said Lisa Foshee, senior vice president, government affairs and general counsel at the Auto Care Association. “This is the first step in the process, and we are grateful and excited to work with the committee.”
Foshee and Bill Hanvey, president of the association, made the announcement about the hearing before nearly 300 association members from across the automotive aftermarket went to meet with lawmakers from their district and state to inform them about the bill and ask for their support.
“Thank you for showing up and defending our industry,” Hanvey told Legislative Summit attendees. “We appreciate you taking the time away from your daily jobs to ensure the future of our industry.”
The bill has 42 bipartisan co-sponsors, who “recognize the criticality of consumer choice,” Hanvey said.
The announcement of the hearing came as lawmakers work to reach a deal to extend government funding to avoid a shutdown. According to CNN, funding expires at the end of the day on Saturday, September 30, when the clock strikes midnight. October 1 marks the start of the new fiscal year.
