Kooks Moves Into 3rd Building, Expands R&D With Large Equipment Investment

Located in the heart of “Race City USA” (Mooresville, North Carolina), the new 20,000-square-foot facility will be home to the sales, marketing, logistics and research and development departments.

For the past 55 years, Kooks Headers and Exhaust says it has built a reputation in the performance aftermarket and racing industry for its dedication to quality, performance and innovation. Now the manufacturer will have a lot more room to advance its header and exhaust technology thanks to its new facility located just 25 minutes south of its Statesville, North Carolina, headquarters in Mooresville.

Kooks is now able to expand its Statesville manufacturing capabilities. With the new equipment, Kooks has the ability to laser cut up to 3/4-inch stainless steel plates which will enable the company to produce their own flanges and cut and bend their own brackets, making the company’s production entirely self-reliant. The new equipment includes:

  • 6000 Watt Mitshibishi Laser Cutting machine
  • 60-ton Dener break press
  • Time Saver surface conditioning machine
  • AIM 1CNC Wire bending machine

“Our customers continuously ask us to develop new products, and with this new expansion, we are showing our customers how devoted we are to continuing to provide the best technology in the industry,” said Kook Jr. “And a big part of that is our investment in cutting-edge machining equipment and engineering talent. We are now one of the only header and exhaust companies that can produce everything in house, and we are very proud of that.”

Kooks also will use its new equipment to manufacture products for other companies.

“We look forward to providing custom machining and fabrication services for other companies with our investment in the new equipment,” said Kook Jr. “The Mooresville location will also feature a custom fabrication center, where customers can have the best header and exhaust products on the market installed on their vehicle.”

The Mooresville location is the third facility for Kooks Headers and Exhaust. The company now occupies more than 100,000 square-feet total and employs 90 people.
