HARTFORD, CT — ITW Permatex has acquired Spray Nine Corporation, a privately owned manufacturer of specialty cleaning products. Headquartered in Johnstown, NY, Spray Nine has been developing and manufacturing a variety of premium cleaning products since 1948, and is credited with introducing the industry’s first “spray-on, wipe-off” disinfectant cleaner.
The purchase was announced by Mike Zimmerman, general manager of Permatex, who noted, that Spray Nine is an excellent acquisition for Permatex, offering a new platform of cleaning products to its product offering. Spray Nine offers exceptional opportunities for sales growth on both a national level and international level, Zimmerman said.
Andy Robinson, currently vice president of Manufacturing and Operations at Permatex, will head up Spray Nine Corp. as its general manager.
According to Robinson, “Spray Nine offers entry into distribution channels where Permatex can develop further business and has operational strengths that are also very appealing to us. Our formidable sales force should be able to expand Spray Nine’s regional business and capture new distribution quickly.”
Spray Nine employs 120 people and has two locations, a global headquarters in Johnstown, NY, and a Canadian corporate office in London, Ontario. The company produces a line of specialty cleaning products for both the industrial manufacturing and consumer markets. Brand names include, Spray Nine, Citrus Blaster, Grez-Off, Earth Soap, Glass & Stainless Steel Cleaner, Odor Eliminator, Total Look and Tire & Vinyl Dressing.
