Illinois Auto Truck Co. Inc. (IATCO), a manufacturer of new clutch assemblies, components and supplemental parts for class 6, 7 and 8 vehicles, has added a self-adjusting clutch to its product line.
The company says the AutoSet Clutch improves on all previous available versions of self-adjusting heavy-duty clutches. With every push of the clutch pedal, clutches and the associated parts wear over time. IATCO’s AutoSet Clutch compensates for wear by auto-adjusting to maintain the clutch pedal free play.

The AutoSet Clutch is a patent-pending design that incorporates two shifting cams that sense the need to adjust to maintain proper clearance. The cams are connected by two stainless steel springs which allow for a strong and balanced operation. The clutch also features an over-adjustment protection feature which connects the clutch cover to the adjusting ring, so should shock to the truck occur, the cams remain in place rather than over or under adjusting. An updated release bearing also was incorporated into the new design, which includes three point lubrication fittings, a bearing cage seal and wide bearing pads.
