HUBB Introduces New Oil Filter To The Aftermarket

The company says the HUBB filter's patented design provides significant engine protection, cost-savings and environmental benefits. The HUBB filter is backed with a 100,000-mile performance guarantee.

HUBB - FilterHUBB has introduced a new oil filter to the automotive aftermarket. The company says the HUBB filter’s patented design provides significant engine protection, cost-savings and environmental benefits. The filter is backed with a 100,000-mile performance guarantee.

Founded in 2004, HUBB was established with the mission to revolutionize oil filtration and become a leading global brand, says the company. HUBB is located in Corte Madera, California.

Currently available for any light truck or passenger vehicle that uses a spin-on filter, HUBB’s patented filter-in-a-filter design is made with surgical stainless steel weave rather than paper used in conventional filters. HUBB’s unique design and functionality improves oil flow by up to five times, while capturing more contaminants from combustion so engine oil stays cleaner, longer, the company says. HUBB’s reusable and cleanable filter also helps the environment by eliminating the need to dispose of used filters in landfills.

HUBB represents more than five years of exhaustive research and development by Christopher Hubbard, the company’s founder and chief scientist. Before founding HUBB, Hubbard served with the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) working in the pathophysiology division specializing in toxins while performing lung and liver perfusions.

“As a motorsports enthusiast and tinkerer, I was frustrated with the poor performance of conventional oil filters and their negative environmental impact,” explained Hubbard. “This frustration, in combination with the experience I gained at USAMRIID and the human lung, provided the motivation and inspiration I needed to create the HUBB filter.”

HUBB has undergone independent third party testing by Automotive Testing and Development Services Inc. (ATDS) and Southwest Research Institute (SRI) as well as extensive field testing with customers.

“The weakest link in the oil management system is the filter because its design and functionality has changed little since it was first invented,” said Scott Killips, CEO. “Conventional filters rely on a paper media that can get clogged and stop working. HUBB is based upon a patented filter-in-a-filter design using surgical stainless steel weave. The HUBB oil filter provides superior engine protection and helps consumers save money by significantly extending the amount of time between oil changes.”

HUBB has received several product design awards including the Good Design award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd. and first place in the 2015 Spark Product Design Awards.
