Danbury, Conn. Honeywell Transportation Systems has announced plans to operate its global friction business as its own strategic business unit. The move was made in an effort to provide greater value to its customers and strengthen its capabilities, according to the company.
The decision to separate the Friction Materials business from Honeywell’s Consumer Products Group business unit was the result of an assessment that included more than 120 “Voice of Customer” interviews and direct feedback from suppliers and channel partners.
“This in-depth analysis will allow us to operate more effectively and in turn, bring more value to our customers,” said Adriane Brown, president and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems. “We now have a clear path to building on our current capabilities. Within our new structure, we plan to immediately mitigate capacity constraints through investments as well as improve factory quality and output.”
Dr. Rainer Bostel, a 21-year veteran within Honeywell, has been named president of the recently formed business unit. Previously, Bostel served as leader of Honeywell’s Home Environmental Controls business unit in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Based out of Glinde, Germany, Bostel and his Honeywell Friction Materials team will be responsible for providing product solutions for its original equipment customers, as well as oversee the continued development of the Bendix and Jurid brand aftermarket friction material offerings. In addition, Bostel will be developing a specific plan of action that will make the entity a stronger supplier for its customers.
