HDAW ‘07 Educational Program to Address Industry Trends and Technological Advances

The 2007 Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW ’07) will offer a comprehensive education program addressing industry trends and technological advances. The second annual HDAW will be held Jan. 22-25, 2007 at The Mirage in Las Vegas. HDAW was developed as a unique venue for meetings between the executive members of the companies comprising the major HD industry associations and marketing groups. It provides a forum for the overall improvement of the HD aftermarket industry with one major meeting, all in one place, one time a year.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The 2007 Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW ’07) will offer a comprehensive education program addressing industry trends and technological advances. The second annual HDAW will be held Jan. 22-25, 2007 at The Mirage in Las Vegas.

“We have been challenged by HDAW Chairman David Engstrom and Vice Chairman Joe Mejaly to take the 2007 HDAW education element to an even higher level than the previous program, which participants ranked as the highest rated feature of HDAW ‘06,” said Mark Iasiello, HDAW education committee liaison and director of member development of the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA). Engstrom is president of Mutual Wheel, and Mejaly as is vice president and general manager of ArvinMeritor’s Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket Business.

“Our group of industry leaders has met several times over the past months,” he said. “We have just completed a survey of both previous HDAW attendees and non-attendees to ascertain the hot topics. Our education committee chairmen — Dave Scheer, president of Inland Truck Parts, and John Flad, vice president of aftermarket sales, Bendix CVS – are reviewing the topics now,” Iasiello said.

Iasiello also noted that the eight education sessions in 11 time slots during HDAW ’06 drew total attendance of 2105, and an average of 191 people per session.

The HDAW ’07 opening morning session on Tuesday, Jan. 23, will be a program titled “The Heavy Duty Aftermarket Forum,” hosted by Stu MacKay of MacKay & Co, with an economic forecast for 2007 and a comprehensive assessment of five major trends facing industry: distribution channel cost compression; distribution flow acceleration; supplier consolidation; customer consolidation; and competitive distribution consolidation.

On the afternoons of Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 23-24, four one-hour sessions will be offered in the highly rated “HDAW Business/Technical Theater” on the exhibition floor.

“The topics for these sessions will be determined by our recent survey,” Iasiello explained. “Issues addressed will include best practices and technical updates as ranked by our survey respondents.”

HDAW was developed as a unique venue for meetings between the executive members of the companies comprising the major HD industry associations and marketing groups. It provides a forum for the overall improvement of the HD aftermarket industry with one major meeting, all in one place, one time a year. The inaugural HDAW ‘06 drew 1,837 attendees to hear presentations by industry leaders, educators and analysts, participate in one-on-one meetings and view the latest products and services in the sold-out exhibit area.

Sponsoring organizations are HD America, HDRG, ITPA, OAC, Power HD, SSA, and TruckPride. HDAW event organizers are the Heavy Duty Distribution Association (HDDA) and the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA).
