Hankook Issues Voluntary Recall of Certain Medium Truck Tires

From Tire Review

Hankook Tire Co. has issued a voluntary safety-related recall of certain Aurora brand medium truck tires manufactured from Mar. 1 through Sept. 5, 2006.

“In tests recently conducted, certain types of tires did satisfy FMVSS but did not fully meet internal endurance criteria,” Hankook said. “The result of this defect could be premature ending of tire service life under extreme conditions of use or abuse.”

The recall affects 7,890 tires manufactured at the tiremaker’s plant in Jiangsu, China. The tires include the Aurora AL04 in sizes 11R22.5 (14- and 16-ply), 11R24.5, 295/75R22.5, 285/75R24.5 and 255/70R22.5; Aurora AL03 in sizes 11R22.5, 11R24.5, 295/75R22.5 and 285/75R24.5; and Aurora AH06 in sizes 225/70R19.5 and 265/70R19.5.

Recalled tires will be accepted for replacement free of charge until June 30. Tires presented after June 30 will be accepted for a partial credit, proportionate to the remaining tread depth.

Further information regarding this voluntary recall is available through the Aurora brand website at http://www.auroratireusa.com.
