AKRON, Ohio — Tomorrow morning at its Akron, Ohio, headquarters, Goodyear plans to announce a new initiative to hire U.S. Armed Forces veterans.
While details of the program won’t be known until tomorrow, the event will include Steve McClellan, president of Goodyear’s North American Tire unit; representatives of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; and representatives of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
The tiremaker said it will “announce the hiring initiative and sign a statement of support for the National Guard and Reserve. Goodyear’s hiring commitment is in conjunction with the U.S. Chamber’s ‘Hiring Our
Heroes’ program, which aims to find jobs for 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.”
