A presentation titled, "The Critical Role of Career and Technical Education for Tomorrow's Aftermarket," will take a look at the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) that was developed to help bridge the gap between industry and education.

CHICAGO – The 2011 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) will take a look at the workforce of tomorrow and what kinds of workers the aftermarket will need to grow and service the vehicles that will enter repair shops down the road.

A presentation titled, “The Critical Role of Career and Technical Education for Tomorrow’s Aftermarket,” will take a look at the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) that was developed to help bridge the gap between industry and education.

In this presentation, which will take place from 2-2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, representatives of industry, education and NC3 will provide the framework for understanding the critical role that career and technical education will play in training tomorrow’s aftermarket workforce. The session will feature Bryan Albrecht, president, Gateway Technical College; Frederick Brookhouse, education business development manager, Snap-on Industrial; and Roger Tadajewski, executive director of NC3.

Tadajewski says that as the United States and world economies recover, workforce supply and quality will become the competitive benchmark.

"The service industries’ future growth and productivity will be determined by the strategic partnerships developed with technical education in the near-term,” explained Tadajewski."

Tadajewski added that GAAS attendees will walk away from the session with a strategy for building local partnerships utilizing the NC3 model.

GAAS 2011 will focus on the theme “Aftermarket Fast Forward: What You Need to Know to Stay Ahead.” The annual two-day Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium brings together industry leaders and experts to examine the issues and trends affecting the worldwide automotive aftermarket and influencing its future. Net proceeds from the event benefit the GAAS Scholarship fund.
