Free Webinar to Discuss Ways to Address Counterfeiting at Tradeshows

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association's (AASA) Brand Protection Council is offering suppliers a free Webinar from 2-3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17 (EDT) on combating counterfeiting at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Association (AAPEX). The free Webinar, “Identifying and Taking Action against Counterfeiting and Other IPR Violations at AAPEX,” will be led by Marc Fleischaker, a partner with the law firm Arent Fox and one of AAPEX’s attorneys. The webinar will conclude with a question and answer session.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association’s (AASA) Brand Protection Council is offering suppliers a free Webinar from 2-3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17 (EDT) on combating counterfeiting at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Association (AAPEX).

The free Webinar, “Identifying and Taking Action against Counterfeiting and Other IPR Violations at AAPEX,” will be led by Marc Fleischaker, a partner with the law firm Arent Fox and one of AAPEX’s attorneys.

During the webinar participants will learn:

• How to prepare before the show

• What constitutes a violation

• What to look for at another exhibit

• What to bring to the show (e.g. patents, copyright registrations, etc.)

• Tips on how to approach possible violators

• How and when to get show management involved

• Actions taken by show management

• Consequences to IPR violators

The webinar will conclude with a question and answer session.

“Product counterfeiting costs American automotive suppliers approximately $12 billion in sales on a global basis annually,” said Paul Foley, executive director of the Brand Protection Council. “More than 1,900 exhibitors will participate in AAPEX, the annual trade show representing the $250 billion North American retail and service aftermarket. It is a prime opportunity to educate manufacturers on ways to stem the tide of counterfeiting and other intellectual property rights violations,” he added.
