RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — Michael Cox, senior vice president and chief economist of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, will discuss global economics as a keynote presenter on Wednesday, May 17, at the 11th annual Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS). GAAS 2006 is set for Wednesday and Thursday, May 17-18, at the Hyatt Regency, Dearborn, MI.

As past president of the Association of Private Enterprise Education, Cox actively promoted market solutions to economic problems. His understanding of technology’s importance in the free enterprise economy of tomorrow inspired Wired magazine to name him a “Prophet of Boom.”

His reports have received extensive attention from leading publications, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Forbes, Fortune, Business Week and Investor’s Business Daily. He also is widely published in the nation’s leading economics journals, such as the Journal of Monetary Economics and the Review of Economics and Statistics.

As senior vice president and chief economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Cox advises the bank president on monetary policy and economic issues and leads the free enterprise research group. He also authors the bank’s annual report essays on rising American living standards and the New Economy. More information and registration forms are at globalsymposium.org.
