WILMINGTON, DE — DuPont Refrigerants announced it has completed purchase of the Isceon hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant blends business from Rhodia. The acquisition will allow refrigerant customers access to additional sustainable refrigerant solutions to help accelerate the reduction of ozone depleting substances.
“DuPont Refrigerants began sharing a new vision for the future at the AHR Expo in February 2005, as we began celebrating our 75 years of leadership in the Refrigerants Industry,” said Mark Baunchalk, global business manager – refrigerants, DuPont Fluorochemicals. “Completing this transaction to acquire the Isceon blends is an excellent example of how we are bringing more sustainable cooling and environmental solutions to our global customer base. It also represents another important step in the progress we are making to achieve our vision for The Science of Cool, which focuses on four key platforms: science and technology, environmental solutions, global relationships, and sustainable cooling. Our goal is to continue to bring leadership in these important areas.”
Effective immediately, DuPont Refrigerants will assume sales responsibility for the portfolio of Isceon refrigerant blends, including: Isceon 49 (R-413A, MO-compatible R-12 replacement in mobile air conditioning and stationary refrigeration); Isceon 59 (R-417A, MO-compatible replacement for R-22); Isceon 69 (R-403B, R-502 replacement in stationary refrigeration) HCFC; and Isceon 79 (R-422A, MO-compatible replacement for R-22), as well as others.
“From a broader perspective, the acquisition also reinforces the commitment to DuPont Fluorochemicals, which is an integral part of the DuPont fluorine enterprise,” said John McCool, global business director, DuPont Fluorochemicals. “Our Refrigerants business is the largest of seven businesses in the DuPont Fluorochemicals portfolio, and is fundamental to our continued success.”
