Dorman Products Named APA Vendor of the Year

COLMAR, PA — Dorman Products was named Vendor of the Year at the annual Automotive Parts Associates, Inc. (APA) shareholder conference held recently in Miami, FL. The award was voted on by the individual warehouse distributor membership and presented to Bill Hanvey, vice president of marketing, and Jeffrey Darby, vice president of traditional sales, by outgoing board Chairman Mike Faley of IWI Motorparts of Dubuque, IA.

Dorman was recognized for bringing new revenue to the group membership in the form of its OE Solutions product category which has generated double digit sales growth over the past three years. Additional factors in the selection process included an industry leading website, outstanding field sales representation and effective cataloging. The Dorman Service Dealer Guide that is distributed to automotive parts stores and service dealers in order to gain awareness of their new categories, was also cited as one of the major contributing elements to the group’s sales growth.

Richard Berman, CEO of Dorman Products, Inc., said of the award, “We are thrilled as a company to have contributed to APA’s sales growth in 2006. APA group members have embraced our strategy on preventing lost sales to the OE Dealer by investing in our OE Solutions product categories and their sales results speak to their success. We would like to thank all the members who recognized us in 2006 and are looking forward to continued success in 2007.”

“Dorman earned the award,” said Dan Freeman, president and CEO of APA. “They have continually brought new product categories to our shareholders that were previously unavailable in the aftermarket which has meant new revenue for our members. They also have executed their plans to develop the awareness of these categories through their Service Dealer Guide and other marketing initiatives.”
