Diversify Your Customer Base at MEMA/JAMA 2005 Supplier Symposium

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) will hold their first-ever MEMA/JAMA North American Automotive Supplier Symposium Thursday, April 21, at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Mich. The goals of the event, “Diversifying the Customer Base by Understanding and Meeting New Domestic Customer Expectations,” are to assist North American suppliers as they diversify and expand their customer bases with the Japanese vehicle manufacturers and help suppliers better understand the OEMs detailed requirements in quality, cost, development and delivery (QCDD).

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) will hold their first-ever MEMA/JAMA North American Automotive Supplier Symposium Thursday, April 21, at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Mich.

The goals of the event, “Diversifying the Customer Base by Understanding and Meeting New Domestic Customer Expectations,” are to assist North American suppliers as they diversify and expand their customer bases with the Japanese vehicle manufacturers and help suppliers better understand the OEMs’ detailed requirements in quality, cost, development and delivery (QCDD). The symposium will focus on case histories from North American suppliers who have been successful in achieving and exceeding the expectations of their customers.

Speakers will include:

* Toru Onda, managing director, Honda Motor Co., and chairman of JAMA’s purchasing committee;

* Tom Stallkamp, former president, DaimlerChrysler Corp.;

* Robert Sump, vice president, component engineering, Nissan North America;

* Larry Jutte, senior vice president and general manager of Parts and Procurement, Honda of America Mfg.;

* Gary Convis, president, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky,Inc.; and

* Laurie Felax, vice president, Harbour Consulting.

The one-day program begins with registration and breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. Presentations and sessions are from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
