RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — Dennis Welvaert, president of the North American Aftermarket Division at Dayco Products LLC, will talk about the ways his company has benefited from successful e-business implementation on Wednesday, May 17, at the 11th annual Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS).

GAAS 2006 is set for Wednesday and Thursday, May 17-18, at the Hyatt Regency, Dearborn, MI.

In his presentation, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to GAAS,” Welvaert will discuss how successful e-business implementation can make significant differences to companies that take the time to do them right. At Dayco Products, he has found that implementation of industry data standards and a concerted company-wide focus on data synchronization have made them a better company. Welvaert will share the lessons he learned along his journey and offer his thoughts on what we need to do together as an industry to create a digital aftermarket.

Welvaert is a 35-year veteran in the automotive industry. His career started with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. where he held various technical positions in research and development before moving into the OEM sales division. He joined the Dayco OEM Sales group in 1981, becoming vice president of OEM sales in 1989. In 1991, he was promoted to the aftermarket and led Dayco’s aftermarket sales and marketing organizations as vice president of sales.

In 1998, Welvaert became vice president and general manager of North American aftermarket operations. In 2003, Welvaert was promoted to his current position of president of the North American aftermarket division.

Welvaert is a member of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation board of trustees, board member of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association and a member of the SAE.
